On Monday night we were supposed to have two lessons back to back, but both ended up canceling, so that was rather unfortunate. We ended up visiting a lot of people instead.
On Tuesday we exchanged with the Somerset sisters. I went to Somerset with Sister Brockbank and Sister Powers. It was a total party! Those two make me laugh. Sister Powers is super sarcastic and Sister Brockbank is sassy, so they make a great duo! We went to help at their food bank and then took the left over meals to people in need in the area. Amidst our day of total service we were able to set up a lesson with one of their friends, and have another friend tell them that she wants them to come because she is still interested, but was not feeling well. It is always amazing to see God’s hand in the work. After our service we went to a restaurant with the Relief Society in their branch. The women in their branch are all really funny, so it made for some entertaining conversations. After dinner we went back to the apartment and did 12 week with Sister Powers. I cannot remember what else we did, so maybe that was it.
On Wednesday we were going to go running, but it rained instead. Sister Powers was not feeling great so we decided it was probably not the best idea to go running in the rain. We did a workout in the apartment instead. After that we had personal study and then drove to exchange back. We exchange at Buc-ees because it is not too far off from half way. After exchanges we got back to our area, had a short lunch, and took off. We had a lesson with our new friend Lily. It started off with her kind of bashing us, but she warmed up the longer we talked. By the end of the lesson she was super interested and told us how excited she is to keep meeting with us (but we were somehow there for an hour and a half). After her lesson, we visited some people. One of the people we visited is an older lady in our ward that is inactive due to health reasons. It is so sad because she always tells us about how ready she is to go be with Heavenly Father in heaven :( After visiting her we visited a few more people before having a lesson with Miss Jay. It is super cool to see the change that comes as people meet members of the congregation and realize we are rather normal people. Miss Jay is super excited to come to church this summer because she said her work schedule should switch when summer gets here! She also started referring to herself as a newcomer at the church, so we are excited to continue to see her progression. After her lesson we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Kahmari, but she never joined the call. Kind of sad since both Sister Blodgett and her daughter Ava were prepared to join us in the lessons. After that we ate dinner and finished planning Zone Conference with the Zone Leaders. After the call we decided to pick up the picture prizes for our social media challenge bingo at Walmart. That was quite the adventure because it was pouring rain. We were running back to the car after and I knocked my tag off. Even funnier when the other side fell down my dress, so I put my tag back on in a strange place and did not fix it until we were back at the car. We ended up having our district leader call sitting in the car because we ran out of time to drive back to the apartment. After our DL call we drove back to the apartment. While we were driving, I went “Sister Allen, I cannot see the lines.” She responded, “Are our wipers on?” Sister Allen thought it was super funny because of course they were not and that solved the problem pretty quickly :)
On Thursday we had a busy day. We had a very awkward Zone Comp study led by some of the elders in our zone. After that we visited some people and then ate lunch. After lunch we laminated the pictures for Zone Conference at the Krebs's house. Honestly we did it rather quickly, and afterwards headed downtown. We went to visit a referral and ended up having a really good lesson with him. He really wants to change his life for the better. After his lesson, we heart attacked the door of one of our part member families in the area. We then went and talked to another man in the area. He got our phone number so that we can set something up to come back and teach him more about the gospel. He really wants to learn, but is always super busy. After visiting him, we had a phone call lesson with our friend Janis. She is kind of stuck right now (not progressing) so we might have to stop teaching her soon. After her lesson, we had another lesson with our friend Valatina. She is a self referral who wants to come to church, so we were able to have a church tour with her and Sister Harrison. She had some really good questions and wants to get baptized, but she wants to learn more first and make sure our church is the one she wants to get baptized into. After her lesson we were supposed to have another lesson, but they ended up canceling again. We went to wash our car instead and then had stake correlation. After stake correlation we did some social media work and called the Danberty Sisters. We ate dinner while calling because somehow that had not happened earlier.
On Friday we had zone conference. The main topic of Zone Conference was setting goals and making plans to achieve them. Some of my favorite quotes from zone conference were: “ There are different ways to consecrate your life to the Lord.” (Abby Chambers) “There’s been an earthquake - they are ready for what God had in store.” (President Milar) “The church is true and the calling of a missionary is something special.” (President Milar) “Never forget which way you face.” “ The Lord does not ask us to be special. He asks us to be ourselves.” “Leave your trace in the Kentucky Louisville mission FOREVER.” (President McGinn) One of the highlights of Zone Conference was the go-to scripture competition. We finally took the win! A really funny part of Zone Conference was that our mission president was trying to make a point and asked every Eagle scout to raise their hand. He then pointed out the fact that I was the only sister raising my hand. After Zone conference we went out to get ice cream with all of the sisters. Right after ice cream we had a lesson with our Friend Darren and he actually read the Book of Mormon! We have been trying to get him to for weeks and he has finally started it! After his lesson we decided to drop by our friends Chris and Kelli and ended up having an impromptu lesson while also setting up a church tour for the following day.
On Saturday we had a super good church tour with Chris and Kelli. Brother Holcomb came with us and he and Chris really hit it off. After our church tour, we had a Bible study with our friend Juliet. After her Bible study we actually got in some weekly planning. After planning we had dinner and a lesson with our friend Stephanie. She has such a desire to change, but is in a really hard situation. Her children are all super cute and so smart so it was super fun! After that we did some social media and got exchange news to the sisters. We also finally updated!
On Sunday our friend Kelli came to church! Chris would have come with her but he was not feeling well. After church we made cookies and dropped them off to friends for Mothers day. We then had dinner with Kat. She is super funny and told us about all of her animals. After dinner we did social media and worked on some things before finishing off the night with a DL call.
There are so many miracles happening. God truly us in all the details!
