Keziah in Kentucky: "I don't want to be baptized by no Ice cream truck driver."

Oh what a week!

On Monday night we decided to walk around and visit people. One of the people we visited was a teenager named James. We shared the Book of Mormon with him and he is super excited to know more about it. After visiting people we did some social media and called it a night.

On Tuesday we saw some miracles and it was a pretty good day. We had our mission wide call in the morning and the focus was on consecration vs. Sacrifice. After Tuesday at ten we had a cool miracle. We randomly got a text asking if we could have a Bible study. We had no clue who the number was, but we were able to set up a lesson and it was so good! He really wants to learn more and draw closer to Christ in his life. After his impromptu lesson we had a call with the DFTCs and SMLs. It was a lot of fun! After that we contacted some people and then had a lesson over social media. After our social media lesson we had a lesson with a self-referral named Nicole. She has been having a really hard time, but it has helped her to draw closer to God and she is really seeking truth right now so we are super excited. After her lesson we visited some people and had our friends Samuel and Samika tell us they are no longer interested in meeting at this time:( Tuesday night we had dinner with the Pyne family. I love them. Their kids are all super smart and seem older than they actually are. After dinner we had our ward correlation meeting. We were able to discuss a lot of our friends and how we can best help them. After the meeting we had a lesson over social media with a friend named Karla. It was the funniest lesson because her dad took over and started singing us songs and showing us random collections he had. It was really funny!

On Wednesday we decided to visit a lot of our friends that we had not been able to set lessons up with. Sadly most of the people did not answer. We did however have a super amazing impromptu lesson with our friends Chris and Kelli. They told us that one of their family members had been telling them false things about the church and they realized they believed us when they defended the church to them, so that was super cool. We were able to go independently into the plan of Salvation and talk about the importance of temples. After their lesson all our other lessons fell through so we decided to walk to visit some of our friends. There was a high chance of rain, but we decided that surely we would get back before it….we did not. We got totally drenched and the rain was coming down in sheets. By the time we got back to the apartment we looked like wet dogs and were soaked. At least it made for a really good laugh. After that we ate dinner, reported, and had a call with the district leader.

On Thursday we started our morning off with our monthly Crochet service. My plastic bag sleeping mat is slowly getting closer to being completed. We had Zone comp study, but the Somerset sisters were going to train and their connection kept kicking them off the call. It turned into a zone discussion about how to best answer specific questions that friends had. After that call we had a social media training call. After the call we had lunch and contacted people. During contacting we called a friend to see when we could have a lesson and she asked how soon we could get there, soo..ten minutes later we had a lesson with her. In her lesson we talked about overcoming struggles and God wanting us at church no matter what our struggles are. After her lesson we went downtown to visit people. None of the people we visited answered their door. We then had a phone call lesson with our friend Janis and KC. They completely hit it off and now we have two friends trying to get Janis to come to church. After her lesson we had a video call lesson with our friend Kahmari. She is so sweet and has such a desire to draw closer to God. After her lesson we visited a few more people and then had dinner with Sister DuBravac. She is so funny. Her son is currently putting in his mission paperwork and she is so worried about it, but not at all for the reasons anyone would expect. After dinner we planned our district council training, did social media, and had a call with the Richmond Asl sisters.

On Friday the chaos began…we had personal study followed by district council. In our district council we talked about using people's earthquakes (struggles) to help them draw closer to Christ. It was really good, but right after that we had to drive the hour and a half to Somerset for Cumberland’s district council. We trained on teaching to friends’ needs and then their district leader trained on using members to help move the work forward. Right after district council we exchanged with the Danville/Liberty sisters. Sister Allen squared went to Danville and Sister Palmer joined me in Tates Creek. The hour and a half drive home went a little long due to the pouring rain and a car accident, so we were late to dinner (thankfully we warned them beforehand). We had dinner with the Roberts and their daughters are so cute. One of them just stares me down everytime she sees me and the other is a super active toddler. After dinner we visited some people and set up lessons.

On Saturday we were supposed to have 7 lessons, a member meal, and exchange back. Not all the lessons went through which might have been a good thing because that would have been more chaotic than it already was. We started our day with a phone call lesson with our friend Miss Jay. That lesson went really long, but was also so good. She is now on date to be baptized at the end of June! My favorite quote from the lesson was, “I don't want to be baptized by no ice cream truck driver.” Right after her lesson we went to visit some people and then flew to our lesson with James. His lesson went really well and we were able to have Sister Millar and one of her sons join us. James kept asking questions about how the Book of Mormon had blessed each of our lives individually. After his lesson, we visited some people and set up lessons then we drove down to Nicholasville to exchange back. The other sisters were late getting there so we were late to our next lesson. We had a lesson with the Byers (a super sweet inactive family). After their lesson we had dinner with the Nimitz family. They are so sweet and super funny. They are building a mansion, but it is not done yet, so they live in 3 rooms of the house while the other half of the house is totally not complete. They made us dinner in a crockpot and easy bake oven because they have no completed kitchen. After dinner we did social media, reported, and had a call with the Somerset sisters. The connection on their call was really poor which was so unfortunate.

On Sunday morning we went to ward council and it was really good. We talked a lot about the importance of temples. After ward council we had church. Our friends Chris and Kelli came! The entirety of Sacrament meeting was about temples and unfortunately it rubbed Chris the wrong way. After church we went walking with Holly one of our inactive members. She is so sweet. After our walk we were supposed to have a lesson with Chris, Kelli, and the Thorntons, but unfortunately Chris and Kelli never showed up. We taught the Thornton's granddaughter instead. It is a slightly sad situation because she really wants to get baptized, but they have joint custody and the other people will not approve. After teaching her we went to Chris and Kelli's to see what happened. Chris was overwhelmed with church so he had decided he was not going to the Thorntons and Kelli was mad at him so it was a really awkward interaction. Thankfully we have a lesson with them tonight and they still trust us to answer their questions, but it was rather stressful. Right after that we went to the We Talk of Christ Fireside. Thankfully that fireside was a lot more peaceful and we were able to see some of our favorite people. After the fireside we drove home, had a District Leader call, and had another lesson with our friend Karla.

There have been so many miracles this week and I know that God truly is in all the details. He has a perfect plan even if we are not able to see it all in the moment. Trust God and his perfect plan!
