On Monday we had district P-day and crashed the Pickett's house (a member family in our area). We played pickleball, air hockey, and a few other games at their house. After P-day ended we did some studying, contacted people, and did social media work.
On Tuesday we had some lessons and went to visit people. We had a kind of sad lesson with our friend Jackie who told us that she was not ready to decide if the church is true or not. We had a pretty good lesson with our friend Eric about the first half of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also taught our friends Jerina and Crystal super short lessons on their doorstep. We had dinner with Jerry and his wife Judy. Judy is a member, and Jerry is not, but really likes the missionaries. They are both super funny. After dinner we reported the day and then did some social media work.
On Wednesday we did a lot of service. We found a food pantry in our area and are now helping them restock shelves on Wednesday. After helping at the food pantry, we had lunch at a playground. After lunch, we helped Sister Crawford pack. Her and her husband are moving and she just had surgery. Helping her pack was really fun and we got to know her better. After that we attempted to visit some people Before driving home for dinner. After dinner we had a New Member lesson with Heather. Her daughter is also a rather new member (last 5 years) and she is so funny. We pulled out the Plan of Salvation paper cut-outs and she was super excited. We let her put them in order and both her and her mom know the Plan of Salvation well. After their lesson, we contacted some people, did some social media work, and had a DL call.
On Thursday, we went to Crest class. The main topic was the importance of extending invitations to our friends. After crest class, we stopped by our friend Charles and were able to set up a lesson for tonight! After visiting him, we had lunch with the Wagners. They are a super funny older couple. After lunch we had a two hour lesson with our friend Pam. Her husband Wayne joined our lesson and it was definitely a weird first lesson (he asked some questions that led to us going over the Baptismal interview questions). It was a slightly sad lesson because Pam said she was not ready to be baptized yet and asked to be taken off date. However, now she and her husband want to learn more, so we are not sure if that was a good or bad lesson. After their lesson we visited an older couple in our ward that much improved our mood! After that we drove home and had dinner with the Picketts. They invited us to a restaurant right by our apartment, so we got to walk there. It was quite entertaining. After dinner we started weekly planning and did social media.
On Friday we went to district council and then exchanged with the STLs. We went to lunch at Cracker Barrel with the Hermanas and STLs after Distric Council. I went to Crestwood for the day with Sister Winkel. She is so funny and I love her! We were supposed to have three lessons, but two of them canceled on us. The one lesson that we had was with a lady named Lisa. It was really hard to read what she was thinking during the lesson. We ended up visiting a lot of people because the lessons were canceled. Probably the wackiest part of the day was going to visit a self referral. We got there right as a family was getting out of the car. We asked if the said referral lived there and he told us that he had died in 2019! The referral was very recent, so that was strange enough. The man then told us we could ask his mom (the wife of the deceased referral) if she had put it in, so we got out of the car. Almost immediately, I notice fresh blood all over the driveway - trust me I know what blood looks like. It looked like someone had a bloody nose everywhere except there were also huge clots in some places. About that time the man also notices the blood and immediately starts making sure his dogs are okay. The daughter then comes running out to tell her dad that the person he told us to talk to was not home and she could not find their dog named Jelly. We thought she was saying it was jelly... It turns out the dog, Jelly, had a really bad bloody nose and the lady had taken him to the vet, but it was a very wild encounter. After that we went back to the apartment and ate dinner. Then we went to sports night. None of our friends came, so we went back to the apartment and did social media instead.
On Saturday morning, I convinced Sister Winkel to go running in the rain with me. They have a great parking lot loop by their apartment. It was super funny because after running we were just walking loops and talking, it was really fun. After that we had personal study, comp study, did device audits, and waited for the other sisters to come exchange back. After exchanging back, we finished weekly planning, visited some people, went door knocking, and basically had a normal missionary day.
On Sunday we had a busy day without being that busy. We went to ward council, had church, contacted some people, had a short lesson with a new friend, had dinner with the Place family, and went to the New Member fireside in Crestwood.
This week has definitely been slower, but that just means God is preparing some people for the gospel and we just have to find them!
