On Monday morning we had a lesson with our friend Luke. We read the story of Peter walking on water and talked about doubting our doubts before we doubt our faith. After that we had district P-day. We went to Strike and Spare (at the same time as another district). We played laser tag, went skating, and went bowling. In the evening, we went street contacting in downtown Corydon. We did not have a lot of success, but it was kind of fun. After street contacting we contacted some people, did some social media, and at 9 had a PowerPoint night with the Sisters in the zone.
On Tuesday we went to visit Joan and Donna. We talked more about temples, but neither of them was feeling well. 😟 After visiting them we went bike contacting. I could not break my streak of having biked at least once a transfer. I had so much fun. We biked 5 miles on a trail (to the end of the trail and back). After biking we did some social media work and got headed down to dinner. We had dinner with the Buttiglieri family. Their dog Rudy is my friend…he let me sit on him while we were there (like a horse) . It was quite fun! The drive home from their house is always fun because it takes half an hour and is kind of in the middle of nowhere. After dinner we did some more social media work and had our STL call.
On Wednesday, we lived the entire day in suspense waiting for transfer news! We went to help Hannah in the morning and will hopefully have some lessons with her soon. After helping Hannah, we had lunch and went to help at the food pantry. The food pantry is such a fun place to help. After the food pantry we did some social media and chalking in front of the church before going to the Brunettes for dinner. After dinner we went to the church for craft club, sadly nobody came to join us, but some people have messaged us about coming next week so that is good! After craft club we did more social media and then had a mission-wide transfer call.
On Thursday we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off! We made cookies to drop off to people so that Sister Maynard could say bye. We stopped by Joan and Donna before lunch. After lunch we played UNO with Sister McIntosh and then went to DePauw for a lesson with Carter and Lisa. In their lesson, we talked about living prophets and the guidance we receive from them. After that, we visited the Yandows and attempted to visit Jerry Ann (she was not home). We then frantically got back to Corydon for dinner. We had dinner with the Swarens. Funny story, we drove past Swarens Funeral Home on the way to their house. We jokingly said we saw their funeral home, and it turns out it is owned by Brother Swarens' cousin. Brother Swarens then goes, "You stab them, we slab 'em" and "You kill them, we fill them." It was super funny! After dinner Sister Maynard said bye to Sister Brunette and the Hamann family. We then frantically finished packing Sister Maynard's stuff for transfers. It was a crazy busy day!
On Friday we went to transfers. A super fun thing was that my new companion had a baptism in her last area Saturday and got permission to stay, so I went to Lebanon for a day. Lebanon also just became a trio area, so their were 5 Sister Missionaries there (a quad plus 1)! We decided to divide and conquer the area. Sister McKeon and I taught lessons in the area while the other sisters went grocery shopping and settled in. It literally made me so happy. We got to teach this sweet old lady named Linda. We started teaching the Restoration, but only got through the first two points because she kept getting distracted (she reminded me of teaching Alan in Newburgh because she kept telling us stories). She was so sweet and has such a desire to find the truth. Also, not sure how I made her like me, but she kept telling me and Sister McKeon that we needed to come back. She told us to get kicked out of Indiana so they would send us back to Kentucky! 😂 After her lesson we had a lesson with her neighbors, Amber and Rusty. It was a super wild lesson. He was asking us about aliens, told us his experience going to hell 😳, told us he cast out demons, asked about polygamy, and early saints slaughtering pioneers?? After that lesson we went to the Lebanon apartment (we were only 45 minutes later than expected). The other companionship was starting to worry we had died. We then ate dinner, had personal study, and crashed the Lebanon STL call. We hauled all the mattresses into the living room with the two couches and had a huge sleepover!
On Saturday we planned the day, had a workout dance party, and studied before leaving the apartment. We decided to go door knock a neighborhood with all 5 of us. We divided and did the entire neighborhood so quickly! We then did some contacts and more door knocking. After that we updated the day (Sister McKeon and I logged in as Sister Wilson). She was doing the work of 3 people. 😜 After that we ate dinner (at 3:45 because there was no other time later). Sister McKeon and I then went to a lesson with their friend Amy. It was a sweet lesson and we read through Mosiah 18 together. After the lesson we drove back to the church and finished helping set up for the baptism. The baptism was for their friend Melvin and it was super sweet. We did not end up leaving Lebanon until 8 o'clock at night. It was a 2 hour drive back to Corydon, so we got back at 10 pm.
On Sunday we went to church and introduced Sister McKeon to the members. After church we had lunch with the Harvey family. It was so funny to just listen to their daughter tell us about life. (The way she tells stories makes them way funnier.) After lunch we went to visit people in the area. We had a lesson with Wanda (the lady Sister Maynard and I met door knocking a few weeks ago). She is interested in learning more and we were able to set up another lesson this coming week! After that we went to visit Johnny (the brother of one of our members). We are pretty sure he was trying to set us up with his 38 year old son…. It was hilarious. We did however get a return appointment to teach him the plan of salvation next week. After that we visited and few more people and headed home for the night. We finally got a personal study at 7 pm!
It was such an amazing week and I am so excited to see what this transfer brings!
