Keziah in Kentucky: Tiwi died... but through Christ all can be made alive!

This week was such a good week!

On Monday we went on a downtown adventure, so that Sister McKeon could learn the area. It was really fun, because we walked around some of the historical sites. Monday night we had dinner the Buttiglieri family - and my dog friend Ruddy! After dinner we drove back to the apartment and had a Zone call so people could get to know each other. It was a rather awkward call, but kind of funny.

On Tuesday we had a lesson with our friend Luke. We sadly might have to stop teaching him because he has not been keeping commitments and we are not sure what changed for him. After his lesson, we studied and had lunch. After lunch we went to see Hannah and finally had a lesson with her! It was a super short lesson, but a lesson nonetheless. After her lesson we had a lesson with Donna about temples. Joan, sadly, was not there because she has been in the hospital. After her lesson we went to visit some people, but none of them were home—or at least none of them opened the door. We went to have a lesson with a new friend we found Sunday, but she was not home, so we went door knocking in the area instead. We ended up finding two new friends and setting up lessons. It was a good reminder that God puts us where we need to be. After door knocking, we did more door knocking in another area. It was super funny because a man sees us and goes, "I know who you are!" We responded, "Who are we?" He ended up giving us an entire explanation of a time that he visited Salt Lake. It was super sweet. After that we went chalking, contacted people, and did some social media. We also had our STL call. Our STLs are super funny and sweet!

On Wednesday we got to help at the food pantry! I love the people there, they are so sweet. After the food pantry we had some contacts, but not many people were home. We watched the Zimmermans make some glass too. After that, we had a lesson with our new friend Penny. We talked a lot about faith and got to know some of her religious background. It was a sweet lesson, but slightly wild because her great-grandchildren wanted our attention. We had dinner with the Brunettes and they are so sweet. After dinner we had craft club, sadly only the Brunettes came. If it does not pick up soon, we will probably drop it, but it was definitely a fun night with them!

On Thursday we had our weekly Uno game with our elderly member. We also had a kind of awkward lesson about temples. She straight up told us she has no desire to go to the temple🤷. After her lesson we had a lesson with our friends Lisa and Carter. We talked about the commandments. After their lesson we went door knocking in their neighborhood. No one there wanted to talk to us, so we came back to Corydon and door knocked some more. After door knocking we had dinner with the Swarens. I absolutely love them! After dinner we went back to the apartment and weekly planned. We only got about half way through weekly planning…it always takes longer at the beginning of a transfer. At 8:30 Thursday night, we had a mission wide call to commemorate angel Moroni visiting Joseph Smith. We read through a large portion of Joseph Smith History as a mission and it was super cool.

On Friday we had district council. Our district is super funny. We were doing hot seat to get to know everyone in the district and the Elders decided to just keep asking us questions (probably because we are the only sisters). Their questions were also really "interesting." They wanted us to rate the elders, tell our favorite companion, etc. The theme of district council was our why to coming on a mission and our why to staying. We had a good discussion about spiritual growth and the things that keep us moving forward. After district council we went street contacting (it was a big fail…we will have to practice and then do it again). After street contacting, we visited some people and went door knocking. We met a new friend named Kamron while door knocking. She was super sweet and we were able to set up a time to come back and share a longer message! After door knocking, we updated and finished weekly planning.

On Saturday we had a pretty good day. We opened the church building for ZLC. I love seeing missionaries' reactions to the church building when they see it for the first time. After unlocking the church we contacted people and had lunch. After lunch, we went door knocking and visited some people. We were supposed to have a lesson, but the lady never opened the door, so we door knocked instead. That was definitely what we were there for! We knocked on a lady's door and she opened the door and said, "Where have you girls been, would you like to come in?" We were really confused because we had no clue who she was. Sister McKeon asked if she had met with missionaries before and she said no. We ended up talking about her religious background and sharing part of the Book of Mormon with her. We asked what she thought about what we read and she said she was surprised because it was the truth! We left her with her own copy of the Book of Mormon and are so excited to set up a lesson and teach her more. It was a good reminder that you are not always at a place for the reason you think, but that does not mean it is not where God needs you to be. After that we tried to visit some other people and they did not answer. We were going to drive to another neighborhood to door knock more, but Tiwi (the robot that monitors our driving) died. She would not let me log in, but would immediately say no driver violation if we started driving. We sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes trying to log in….we even tried Sister McKeon's card to see if my card was the problem. My card was not the problem. We went back to door knocking, because clearly we were stuck there for a reason. We called the vehicle coordinator to see what he wanted us to do, and ended up unplugging Tiwi for the rest of the day. We visited some more people and had a lesson fall through, but had a fun evening door knocking. We found out where the Zimmermans live and had a good conversation with them.

Sunday morning we pluged Tiwi back in...and she worked! It was quite nice to have our friend Tiwi back. Sunday was a good day of lessons. We had a lesson with one of our neighbors, Johnathan, and talked a lot about his questions. We gave him a Book of Mormon and are excited to see if he reads it. After his lesson we drove across our area for a lesson with our friend Wanda. She is quickly becoming one of our favorite friends in the area. Not only did she keep her commitment to read part of the Book of Mormon, but she was excited to learn more. We had a super sweet lesson where we taught part of the Plan of Salvation and she asked really good questions! I am so excited to continue teaching her more! After her lesson we had another lesson fall through, but went door knocking and were able to set up a lesson next week with a friend we met a few weeks prior. There are so many miracles happening in the area, and I am so excited!

I know that through hard work God will always make miracles happen.
