On Tuesday we got to go and help Hannah. I love playing with her daughter, Isla! After helping Hannah we had lunch and then visited Joan and Donna. They are super cute old people. Joan made us explain all about temples to Donna and we are now trying to see if it will be possible for her to take out her endowments before the temple closes for renovations. After visiting them we went door knocking and actually had some people tell us we could come back! I think the person who was most interested was a teenager, so hopefully we get his parents approval. After door knocking we had dinner with the Kanui couple at El Nopal. They are so sweet, but you can definitely see their college professor backgrounds. After dinner we went street contacting. We have had fun doing the Book of Mormon experiment recently (you let people flip to a random page and highlight any time it says Christ, God, or Lord - it is on every single page). After street contacting we did some social media, had our STL call, and called it a night.
On Wednesday we got to help at the food pantry. It is actually so much fun! We stayed rather busy while we were there. After helping at the food pantry we drove to Palmyra to meet our referral Brittany. We went on a walk with her and her daughter (Zariah) at a park. Her daughter is so cute. We ended up spending 90 minutes with them. Toddlers are easily distracted, and that makes them walk slow. After meeting them we had dinner at Rita's. We had to rush eating dinner so we could get to craft club on time. We had a mom and her two teenage daughters come. It was super fun, and they said they plan on coming back next week! After craft club we did social media and had our DL call.
On Thursday we had a Zone call. We talked about making every hour a productive use of your time. After the zone call we had a social media training call. On the training call we played a Kahoot. Sadly, our phone was loading really slowly, so we did not win (even though we only missed one question)! After the call we had lunch and went to play Uno with Sister McIntosh. After Uno, we went street contacting. We stopped at Zimmermann's and watched them make glass. I love watching them…they even let me hold some of the waste glass they cut off, but not for very long because it can explode if it cools too fast. They did not want it to explode in my hand. After watching the Zimmermann's, we did some weekly planning. We put weekly planning on pause and had dinner with Brother Stork at Culver's. He is a super sweet older man in the ward. We ate so much restaurant food this week! After dinner we went back to weekly planning and did some social media before bed.
On Friday we went and helped Hannah paint in the morning and then went to district lunch. We had district lunch at Sam's Club. After lunch we had District council. At District council we talked about the power of the Book of Mormon. After District council we had companion study and went to visit some people. One funny part of the day was we went up to a house and a man was sitting outside. I said, "Hi" and he said, "I am high, I've been smoking weed." I think he was serious…but I found it funny because it was so random. After visiting people we went street contacting and had dinner with the Swarens. It was so good to have them back in town. (They have been out of town for 3 weeks.) After dinner we went door knocking. We met a lady named Mary and were able to give her a Book of Mormon, so that was super exciting. After door knocking we contacted some people and did some social media work.
On Saturday, we did a Zone send it Saturday (we have a list of challenges to try to complete during the day). Our challenges were to wake up and go running in the morning (attack the day), share a Russell M. Nelson talk with someone, take a picture with someone wearing a blue shirt, and take a picture of the funniest sign in our area. We of course started off our day by going running. After running and studying, we went to the funeral for our member that passed away. After the funeral we ate lunch and went to the Heritage festival. We sadly missed the parade by a few minutes because of traffic. We went whiteboarding (we write a question on a whiteboard and let people write their answers). Our question was, "What brings you joy?" We actually got a lot of responses. We did however stand in the same place for 90 minutes, so I saw too much sun… After the Festival we went to visit some people and then went to dinner with Sister Fullmer. She invited some of her non-member friends and it was really fun. After dinner we all played some board games. We played a game that lists random historical facts and you try to put it in the right place in your timeline. After dinner we contacted some people and did social media work.
On Sunday we started the day by going to Church (big surprise). Many of our members are currently out of town, so it was EMPTY. I think there were 6 people in Relief Society (not counting the missionaries). Sadly, none of our friends made it to church. After Church we studied and then went street contacting at one of the trails in the area. We ran into a lady that we have worked with at the food pantry a few times and had a good conversation. Apparently she has relatives that are members. She is not currently interested, but maybe in the future. After street contacting, we had our DL call. We are convinced that the Elders are all playing one big prank on us, because one of the Zone Leaders has been with the district leader for 2 days and we have no clue where his companion is and they will not tell us. They said they were on exchanges, but all their send it Saturday pictures had 3 of them.
After our DL call we went door knocking and then visited some people. We had a super sweet conversation with an inactive member about her conversion story, so we hope that it gives her the desire to come back. We finished off the night texting people and doing some social media.Not much happened this week, but we had a lot of positive contacts during the week. You never know what seeds you are planting. 😊
