On Monday we had a rather slow day. We went downtown to visit one of the historic monuments and take pictures though. Monday Night we had dinner with the Buttiglieri family. They never fail to make me laugh - they are super entertaining. After dinner we contacted some people and did social media.
On Tuesday we had our mission wide Zoom meeting. The topic of the meeting was kindness. I really liked the quote from Sister McGinn, "Kindness is always the right thing to do and to be." After Tuesday at 10 we studied and went to district council and interviews with President McGinn. We had a good training on teaching by the spirit. I think we spent a solid portion of district council just talking about food. It was really funny. After district council we drove back to our area and visited some people before having a really late lunch - like 4 pm late. After lunch we went to visit our elderly members that we visit most Tuesdays. It was really sad because we found out while we were there that one of them passed away on Sunday. On another note while we were there Donna looked at Sister McKeon and goes, "I have no idea who you are." (She met her the week prior.) Later in the visit she was staring at Sister McKeon and goes, "I know you from somewhere." It was super funny! On the way back to the apartment we stopped by to see a random gray dot (someone who has been taught by missionaries in the past). We ended up talking about the Book Of Mormon and setting up a lesson with her so that was cool. We finished off the night with social media and an STL call. Our STLs are super entertaining.
On Wednesday we got to go to the temple. They are trying to get all the missionaries through before it closes and Sister McKeon had not gone yet. It is a 45 minute drive to the temple, but we left with 90 minutes before our session started. It is a mighty good thing we did because we hit traffic and it took us 75 minutes instead. The temple was super fun and Sister McKeon and I decided to wear out matching dresses. After the temple we ate lunch at the mission office. The entire time we were eating lunch Elder Zahlman was making fun of me for unplugging Tiwi - even though he was the one that told me to :) We took a slight detour to Jeffersonville on the way back to our area and went street contacting with the STLs. It was super fun. We walked on the walking bridge between Kentucky and Indiana. We also walked over to the famous candy story there. After that we had our DL call, but they called late so we were late to our lesson - not that it mattered because they did not open the door when we got there (only 2 minutes late). We ended up going door knocking instead and then going to our lesson with our new friend Penny. We talked a lot about the Book Of Mormon in our lesson, because she does not see the need for anything other than the Bible. A good thing is that her great-grandchildren have decided that they love us. After her lesson we had dinner with the Brunettes and then went to craft club. Sister Hamman came and she was so confused watching me crochet. She was trying to figure out how I did it that way and still made it work. Apparently I hold the hook in a weird way, but it works! After craft club we finally had some personal study to finish off the night. We had a movie night after 9 and watched safety zone.
On Thursday morning we had a mission wide social media call. We talked about miracles that come through messaging people. After that, We played Uno with our elderly member and talked about prophets with her. After Uno, we had a lesson with our friends Lisa and Carter. They are so sweet. We talked about prophets with them also, but then had a long conversation about agency. After their lesson we heart attacked someone's door and went to visit a referral we had not gotten in contact with. We ended up setting up a lesson. With her next week! We then went back to the apartment and did weekly planning.
On Friday we went to help at the food pantry. Right after helping we had a video call lesson with a friend that was previously taught in our area. She no longer lives here, so we will probably have to pass her off to the missionaries in her area. During her lesson we did a review of the restoration and focused on God's love for his children. We went up to Palmyra to visit people in the top of our area after that and had a lot of positive contacts. This next Friday might be a little chaotic now because we have 5 lessons set up after district council! We had a lesson with our friend Wanda while we were there and she loves the Plan of Salvation! She said that it just made sense. After our many positive contacts we had dinner with the Sodders. Brother Sodders is super good at woodworking and was showing us some of the things he has made. It was so cool! For dinner we had a fire and roasted hot dogs and then made s'mores. I love fire, so that was really fun!
On Saturday we watched General Conference with some of our members. Between sessions we met a member who recently moved into our ward. She really wants to get involved at church, but only speaks Khmur. We had a sweet conversation with her over Google translate and she was super glad we stopped by. After that, we had a lesson with our new friend Ellie. She really surprised us during the lesson by pulling out a Book of Mormon. Apparently she read the entire thing about 25 years ago and is willing to read it again. Kind of funny surprise!
On Sunday we went door knocking before conference and had our DL call (new record for the fastest DL call ever - I think we were on and off in under 5 minutes).We watched conference with the Brunettes. Their house is pretty much our second house. Between sessions we ate lunch with them and had a short ward correlation meeting. After the afternoon session we had a lesson with our new friend Mary. She surprised us also by knowing the story of the first vision and angel Moroni (and knowing it accurately). Teaching her might be a long process because she is not currently sure what she believes, but she is such a cool person! After her lesson we did some social media and ate dinner.
