"Since y'all are here, we might as well set a date."

This week the pace picked up! For the second time in my mission a city water line broke and we are not allowed to use water without boiling it.

On Monday night we were supposed to have three lessons, but they all ended up canceling. We cold called people instead and were able to have a lesson with our friend David over the phone. After calling a lot of people we did some social media and then had a call with the Zone Leaders to talk about helping the Zone.

On Tuesday, we had our mission wide Zoom call. The main topic was about trust. A quote I liked was, “You have to jump out of the boat to find that you can walk on water.” After that we contacted people, ate lunch, and went to the park to meet our friend for a lesson. He ended up not showing up so we visited some people in the area. We then did some social media work at the park. While we were there a member called us because apparently they were at our friends house for a lesson (they had mixed up the time). We frantically called our friend to see if they were available for a lesson then, ran home, and drove to the lesson. It all ended up working out really well, but it was slightly stressful. After our lesson with Murphy, we drove home and switched to bikes. We then biked around to visit people. One of the people we visited was our friend Nellie. She did not end up answering the door, but we felt very strongly that we needed to knock some of the street. We had no success knocking so we were a little confused, but on our way back down the street Nellie was outside and we got to talk to her. It is so cool to see the perfect timing of God's plan. We had a sweet prayer with her and were able to set up a lesson. After that we biked to the Cochrans for dinner. I love them. Their mom was late getting home from work, so we sat on their porch until she arrived. It was really cute because the dad and son had made dinner and the son was really proud of himself. After dinner, we worked on friends of Christ stories and reported for the night.

On Wednesday, we studied and visited some people. After visiting a few people we went to Bread of Life (a food pantry in our area) and volunteered. We also had a call with the social media leaders and they told us some of their ideas for stories. After the food pantry we did some social media work. After social media we cold called people since our lesson never ended up confirming. After that we had a really early dinner followed by us meeting with the family history consultants for the branch. They are so sweet and we were able to get some ideas about how to help the branch. After talking to them we went to a lesson with the Simpsons. It turns out the Simpsons had called telling us that it would work better if we just came on Friday this week, but we missed it, so we showed up.They were working on the pool, but stopped to have a lesson because they said, “Well now that you are here, don't waste the trip.” We started having a lesson and John looked at us and went, “Since y'all are here I think we should set a date for me to get baptized.” So our friend John put himself on date!! I also got to hold a baby chick during the lesson! They then gave us a rundown of the criminal background of Bardstown and told us some scary stories. After our epic lesson…that ran really long, we had a mission leadership council call to plan Zone Conference.

On Thursday we had breakfast with the Welthers. They are a super sweet older couple in the ward. They told us about their conversion and it was really cool. After breakfast we had a zone comp study where we talked about faith and started a zone challenge to get 40 Member Participating Lessons before Sunday night! After the Zone Study we had a social media training call. Then we studied and contacted at the same time. We then basically skipped lunch to go to our service at the thrift store. We went straight to a lesson with David after service. He has not been progressing, but we were able to get to the root of his concerns so now we can help him more. After his lesson, we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Nellie, but she did not answer. We then had a video call with our friend Murphy. He is so ready for his baptism in two weeks and it is super exciting. After his lesson, we had dinner with the Jensons. They have the cutest little kids. After dinner we were supposed to have a lesson with Bob but he ended up canceling, so we stopped by Nellie instead and had a super sweet lesson with her. Right after her lesson, we had a lesson with our new members DJ and Jess. Right after their lesson we had a District Leader call (because we ran out of time on Wednesday). Then we reported and had a call with the Lebanon Sisters. They are super funny.

On Friday we had district council down in Lebanon. In district Council we talked about setting goals and finding friends. We also talked about the importance of unity in missionary work. Right after district council we got a call from our friend Stephen. He had a lot of questions about the Book of Mormon and we were able to set a lesson up with him on Sunday. After his call we really quickly blitzed Lebanon. We spent all the time we had…and then some, talking to this man named Jimmy. He was really nice, but definitely a Kentucky talker.
Right after that we drove to Elizabethtown and exchanged with the Brandenburg sisters. Sister Hatch came to join me in Bardstown and we had so much fun! We had a lesson with Amy and taught her Restoration. Right after we had a lesson with Karl and also taught him Restoration. We then had a lesson with the Simpsons and went over Restoration with them, but it ended up mainly being about Prophets. After their lesson we ate dinner and I got to know Sister Hatch better. She is a black belt in Martial Arts and she told me about some really cool moves. We then finished off the night with a device audit.

On Saturday we started off with studies and then went to the Fort Knox district Council. It was so much fun. We trained on the importance of talking to everyone and it went really well with the other training on asking questions. After district council we went out to lunch with the sisters. After lunch we drove back to our area and had a video call with our new friend Joe. He is so sweet and when we asked him for his thoughts on the restoration, he said, “That’s true.” After his lesson we visited some people and finally got around to weekly planning. After weekly planning we had a call with Kristen to read the Book of Mormon and finished the night reporting.

On Sunday we rode our bikes to church. Aunt Marilyn surprised me and came to church in Bardstown! I also spoke in church about Joseph Smith. We had three of our friends make it to church which was super exciting. In Relief Society we talked about the impact that words can have. After church we had an amazing lesson with our friend Stephen. In his lesson he asked some really good questions. He has such a genuine desire to learn! After his lesson we rode home and visited some people. We then ate lunch, visited some more people, and had Branch coordination. One of the people we visited was a super sweet lesson active lady. Her granddaughter was there and we had so much fun talking to them! After that we had Branch coordination and finally at dinner, while reporting and responding to people's comments on Friends of Christ stories. After that we had a District Leader Call and called it a night.

It was a really good week with some really cool miracles. God truly has a plan for each of us and he is in all the details!
