Last Monday night, we visited some people, hung up the baptismal suits (the closest is finally cleaned out), and had calls. We had a call with the zone leaders where we talked about ways to help the zone and then we had a call with the Bluegrass sisters. They are both so sweet! We also started our zone challenge of taking pictures with random words found in a word search.
On Tuesday we went running with the Bluegrass sisters. (Anyone who knows me knows how much joy this brought me.) After running, we studied and had our mission wide Zoom call. The main topic of the call was the idea that we can control things. A quote I liked was, “Do you control it, or does it control you?” After The Zoom call, we contacted people and had a phone call lesson with one of our new members. It was a really good lesson about the priesthood! After his lesson we transfer planned and then visited some people. We had some really fun visits. After that we had dinner with the DuBravacs. They are so funny. After dinner we had ward correlation, did some social media, and had an STL call with Sister McGinn.
On Wednesday, we had mission leadership council (MLC). I drove to Crestwood in the pouring rain. The UK YSA Sisters (Sister Bastian and Sister Seely) carpooled with us, so that was a lot of fun! At MLC, we talked about reverence and got some good ideas for Zone conference. After MLC, not much happened. We were supposed to have two lessons but they both ended up canceling, so we did social media, contacted people, ate dinner, and had a DL call instead.
On Thursday we had utter chaos. We had a zone comp study where we talked about following the spirit. We then had a video call with my Facebook friend Anthony (it ended up being an hour long and honestly we did not talk that much). After the video call, we heart attacked a member's door and left cookies. We got caught (the car will not shift until the driver is buckled and my buckle got stuck)! After heart attacking we weekly planned and then had a phone call lesson with our friend Janis. She is so funny and really hit it off with the member we had join us. After her call we immediately had a video call lesson with our new member Grace. She is super sweet and sincere. After her lesson we finished weekly planning, ate dinner, and had a call with the Danville/Liberty sisters (Danberty).
On Friday we once again went running with the Bluegrass sisters. I got to go running twice in a week!! After that we studied, contacted people, and planned our district council training. Then we visited some people and had DC. Our district is awesome! The district is the French/Swahili elders and us. We learned about charity and trained the district on stop teaching (apparently needed since one of the companionships has 61 friends they are “currently” teaching). After district council we had an awesome lesson with a friend (he is a deacon at another church). The more we talk to him though, the more he likes us. He is also committed to reading the entire Book of Mormon beginning to end. Right after his lesson we had dinner and a lesson with our friends Chris (the son of a pastor) and Kelli. Basically, it turned into a question and answer session. If it is a gospel principle there is a high chance we at least touched on it in their lesson. It was such a good lesson and at the end Chris said, “Something keeps drawing me in, I am already further in than I thought I ever could be.” He was really caught off guard that we had Bible verses to support what we were saying. The funniest part of the lesson was when I shared a scripture from Amos. Chris goes, “Amos, from the Book of Mormon?” I went, “No, the Old Testament.” He then says, “I have never heard of Amos in the Bible (while his wife looks at him like he is crazy). I will have to ask my mom if she knew there was a book called Amos." 😂 It was a really good lesson. After the lesson, we had a call with the Zone leaders to plan Zone Leadership training and a call with the Richmond ASL sisters.
On Saturday, we had a phone call lesson with our friend Miss Jay. She is awesome and has such a desire to learn! After her lesson, we studied and then visited 1 million people (not really, but we visited a lot). We also went to an ice cream place in our area called Freshies. It was honestly rather disappointing. We also went door knocking, but it decided to get cold outside again! After that we had dinner, did social media, had a call with the Zone Leaders (for more planning), and had a call with the Somerset sisters. They make me laugh!
On Sunday we had church (big surprise). We had 4 friends potentially coming, but none of them ended up showing up. We once again visited a lot of people (few of which opened their door). We were supposed to have a lesson, but could not find a women to go with us. We went over to reschedule, but they ended up not opening the door. After our adventure, we updated (we finally caught up), went through the prospective elder list from the ward, and ate dinner. After dinner, we did social media and had a DL call.
It was a week full of meetings and yet we still found four new friends and set up lessons for next week with some new friends too. It truly is God's work, and he makes miracles happen!!
