Off-roading: We almost got stuck!

Tuesday was our p-day and we had a pretty slow evening afterwards. We bagged up treats to deliver to people and did some social media work. We also had our STL call.

Wednesday was a pretty solid day. We went to visit a lot of random people. We visited a lady who was very kind to us, but very firmly told us we were wrong. We are pretty sure from her comments that she has absolutely no clue what we believe…

Right after visiting her we went to visit someone else. We could not see a house when we got to the address, but we saw what appeared to be a driveway, so we drove up it. BIG MISTAKE! The driveway led to where there was probably a house/trailer at one point, but instead it was a huge mud puddle. We had to turn around in it and we almost got stuck in the mud. We were probably 8 to 12 inches down and our car is so muddy now! After that we went to visit one of our new friends, but she did not answer so we went door knocking instead. We gave out two Books of Mormon while knocking and met three potential new friends. It was so funny because we knocked on a lady's door and she asked us if a specific person had put us up to it (we had no clue who she was talking about, but apparently it is the ward Relief Society president). They are really good friends and she has gone to a lot of church activities. We also met another lady who accepted a Book of Mormon and told us to text her to set something up once she knows her work schedule. After door knocking we had a lesson with our friend Jackie. It was kind of chaotic because her grandchildren were there, but it was also super sweet! After her lesson we got dinner and then had a lesson with our new member Justin. Justin and Renee are so fun. I love lessons with them. After that we did social media, had a DL call, and called it a night.

On Thursday we had a slower day. We had crest class (a zone call where we talk and discuss things). This week we discussed a conference talk. After that we had a mission wide social media call. We talked about ways that we can better use the tools that God has given to us. Then we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Pam, but she canceled at the last minute. We did some weekly planning and then went door knocking. It was a rather unproductive day of finding, but we did have some good Facebook contacts that night!

On Friday we had district council. The DLs started telling us about how they had no running water and had not for the past 36 hours. I had to laugh because that was a little too familiar! After that we had lunch with the Wagners. They are such a funny older couple. After lunch the Hermanas, the Wagners, and us were all talking in the living room. It was rather entertaining because Sister Flake and one of the Hermanas both fell asleep on their couch (to be fair the lights were off, but it was still funny). After that we visited a lot of people and had some good contacts. That night we went to Volleyball at the church and that was a lot of fun. There were mostly Spanish speakers there and they were all trash talking each other. It was hilarious!

On Saturday we had an entire day of door knocking and contacting random people. It was really cold to be spending all day outside, but we had some sweet contacts with people. We ended up talking to an older lady in our area for about 45 minutes. She was so sweet. After that we called one of the people I have been messaging over Facebook and had a sweet conversation. We were going to have a lesson but did not because he was busy.

On Sunday we went to church, and all the speakers were missionaries! Sister Flake, Sister Piene, and I all spoke. They asked us on Thursday! After church we did a little door knocking and contacting (it was misting, which made it even colder). After door knocking we had dinner with the Bishop's family. We had a 3 hour party with us, the Hermanas, and the Elders from the other ward. It was super fun to just play games with their family and see the reptiles. They pretty much have a zoo (they have 8 tortoises, at least 7 lizards, and multiple snakes). After dinner we did some social media work, practiced go-to scriptures, and had a District call for the new year (still not sure what was happening on that call).

It was an adventure and now we get to have a happy new year!
