On Monday we had district P-day. We went to the mall and then played volleyball at the church. I am still trying to figure out why Elders like to shop so much… Monday night we did some studying, contacted some people, and did some social media work.
On Tuesday we somehow had a two-hour lesson with our friend Pam. She fully agrees with everything we teach, but we are having a hard time getting her to church. Please pray for Pam to make it to church! After Pam's lesson we washed our car for Zone conference. Our car was COVERED in mud and desperately needed a bath! After cleaning the car, we had two video call lessons. The first video lesson was with Charles. He is amazing! I found him on Facebook and he has so much potential. We introduced the Book of Mormon to him during the call and he has read 9 chapters since then… We also have a continued message chain of him asking us questions. We have talked about everything from the Book of Mormon to Church Organization to the Word of Wisdom! We now have an in person lesson set up with him and he is super excited…and so are we! Immediately after his lesson we had one with Ryan, another person I met on social media. He, unfortunately, lives in Corydon, so we will have to pass him off to them soon, but we had such a good lesson and he said our closing prayer. In the prayer he asked for help having an open mind and learning what God needs him to know! After that we did some social media and worked on Go-to scriptures.
We had Zone Conference on Wednesday. The main topic was looking forward with an eye of faith. I got to see my other child and better half at zone conference and it made me so happy! We unfortunately did not win the Go-to scripture competition, but we did however win the clean car award. I think it is hilarious because it was SO bad the day before. After Zone Conference we went out to get ice cream with the Sisters in the zone. Then we went back to the apartment, studied, contacted people, did social media, and had a pretty calm night.
On Thursday we had Crest class and talked about the adjusting to missionary life booklet. After crest class, we went to the church to weekly plan and then had a chapel tour with our friend Mark. He was a self referral and this whole time we have been calling him Robert (he did not tell us until the end of the tour that he goes by Mark). Sister Hurt joined us for the tour and she was a super big help. After that we drove to Crestwood to exchange. Sister Flake went to Crestwood with Sister Winkel and Sister Allen joined my Clear Creek party. Right after exchanges we had a lesson with our friend Jackie. It was such a good lesson and she has such a desire to be a good person! After that we contacted some more people (including an older couple that was so funny). Then we crashed the Hurt's house for dinner. After dinner we did some social media and finished updating our day.
On Friday we had a rather slow morning, followed by lunch with Sister Wagner. She is super funny! She was kind of attacking Sister Allen during lunch. After that we visited some people and went door knocking. We then exchanged back. It was kind of crazy because they have two sim cards, so we almost forgot to take it out of Sister Flake's phone and put in back in Sister Allen's. We thankfully caught them before they left the parking lot, only to realize when we got back inside that Sister Winkel had left her phone. I sprinted after their car, but unfortunately they did not see me :( We then tried to call Sister Allen's phone to tell them, but it was still turned off from switching the Sim card. They got all the way back to their area before noticing, so we met them later that night to give them it back. After exchanges we finished weekly planning, had a lesson with our friend Karen (not sure if she is accountable), and went to sports night.
On Saturday we went to a baptism in our ward for one of the member's kids because we were asked to sing. Sister Flake played the piano while the Hermanas and I sang in Spanish. After the baptism we had a social media call where we played Kahoot. We placed 3rd in the mission even though we joined late and missed the first few questions (I guess it helps to pay attention during social media calls). After that we had a day full of lots of visits. We also went door knocking and met two new friends so that was super cool! One of them opened the door before we got there and told us she had just had the feeling she should look outside. There were so many miracles that day and it was a great reminder the the Lord's work will move forward!
On Sunday we had church at 11 am. It was really weird because I have had 9am church my entire mission. We did however have ward council before church, so we were still there early. During church we got to go to primary and hang out with the kids because Sister Flake was asked last minute to play the piano. After church we had some contacts and went door knocking. After door knocking we went to the Bishop's house for a Spanish party. There is a lot of work in the area right now to try to unify the Spanish and English church members. That party was a lot of fun and afterwards we did social media, had a DL call, and messaged 1 million people (not really but it sure felt like it).
It was such an amazing week and the work in the area is definitely picking up. We are so excited to continue to watch our friends progress!
