Last Tuesday was Halloween, but we did not do anything out of the ordinary, except return to our apartment earlier. We were supposed to have five lessons, but every single one of them fell through except two. We decided that we were going to sing to one of our elderly members in the nursing home, so Sister McKeon brought her guitar. The member was asleep, so we went to leave. On the way out one of the staff members caught us and asked us to come sing for some of the residents. We ended up singing church songs for a group of random elderly people, so that was kind of fun and wild.
On Wednesday, we had our mission-wide transfer call, but we got a text earlier in the day so we already knew what was happening. We did some service Wednesday and had an amazing lesson with our friend Wanda. She absolutely loves us and we are hoping that priesthood power clicks for her soon. After her lesson we had dinner with the Brunettes. After dinner we had a lesson with our inactive member, Charles. His lessons are always so wild. We talked about priesthood, the word of wisdom, temples, and anything else that he brought up :) Tiwi died on the way home from his lesson...again. it is the 3rd time Tiwi has had problems in the last 6 weeks, so if it happens again we have to call Salt lake to try to get it fixed.
On Thursday we had a short lesson with our friend Hannah. We also gave her the Dino that I made for her baby. After her lesson, we made it a bike day. We biked to play uno with our elderly member. After playing uno, we rode to the church to update our phones. They kept saying they needed to update, but would not until we connected to wifi. After that we were supposed to have a lesson with a friend, but they did not answer, so we visited one of the elderly ward members instead. It was such a good visit. After that we had dinner with the Swarens. It was super funny because we told them we were becoming a trio. Brother Swarens goes, "I told the mission president I couldn't get enough of y'all - he must have taken me seriously." It was really funny.
On Friday we had transfers. We went and picked up our trainee and then had a day of utter chaos. We ate lunch on the way back to our area and then changed for service. We went and raked leaves for an elderly lady in our area. Right after that we had a lesson with our friend Brittany. It was quite the lesson because her daughter Zariah is wild! After her lesson we contacted people, updated our day, and finally ate dinner.
On Saturday we finally got around to weekly planning. After planning we visited some people—many of which did not open the door. After our contacts we had a lesson with our friend Rosa. It was such a good lesson. We talked about the first part of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She has such a desire to learn more about her Savior and draw closer to him. After her lesson, we visited some more people and had dinner with the Smith family. They let us feed their sheep! I am slowly adding to the list of random animals I have been around on my mission. :)
On Sunday we had stake conference. Shane A. Bowen of the 70 spoke. After stake conference, we studied, visited some people, and had a lesson over the phone with our friend Dennis. After his lesson, we had dinner with the Brunette family. It was sweet because we got to celebrate her birthday with them.
On Monday we had a lesson with our friend Luke. It actually went pretty well. We think he is starting to want to learn again. After his lesson we studied, visited some people, and went door knocking. We met some sweet old ladies door knocking, but neither one of them was interested. After door knocking we visited Donna and some other people and then had dinner with our neighbor Chuck. He has been wanting to take us out for dinner for weeks, and we finally had a time where his wife and us were available at the same time. When we were backing out of the parking lot Sister McKeon told me to back, "this way." Unfortunately I was not looking at her, so I had to guess what way "this way" was. I asked Sister Ballard and she said "this way"...so of course I backed that way. :) After dinner we set up the apartment for Olney to spend the night with us. We were having a combined zone conference and President told them to find someone closer to stay with so they did not have to leave at 5 in the morning. That was a party. We had 6 missionaries in our apartment.
On Tuesday we had Zone Conference with Shane A. Bowen. He talked a lot about false limitations and how we need to do the impossible. We have now been challenged to contact 30 people daily and have 30 lessons every week….so we will! After Zone conference we went street contacting. We did not find anyone super interested, but we can always plant some seeds. After that we played uno with our elderly member, visited some people, and did some social media work.
On Wednesday we had a bike day! We biked to to service at the food pantry. After the food pantry we visited some people. After visiting we biked to the apartment and switched to the car. We then had a lesson with one of our newer friends named Charles. His step-son Levi joined us, and it was such a good lesson. They were so open to learning more and told us it was good to see young people "with the fire of God." Then we had dinner with the Brunettes. I love them so much!
It was quite the week of chaos in Corydon, but the work is definitely moving forward!
