On Monday night, we messaged a lot of friends to set up lessons. After messaging people we went out street contacting. We are really working on talking to EVERYONE. After street contacting we had a lesson with one of our members named Kristen and then had a call with the Zone Leaders. We were supposed to have two phone call lessons, but neither friend picked up. After 9, one of our friends called and we were able to have a short lesson (and confirm our lesson for the following day). At the end of the day Monday our lesson count was 2.
On Tuesday, we had our mission wide zoom call. The main topic of the call was the Tabernacle choir watch parties coming up in September. The Zahlman's also bore their departing testimony. A quote I liked was, “Through his grace we become.” After Tuesday at 10, we contacted, did a device accountability, and ate lunch. Right after lunch we had a lesson with our friend David. He always talks about, “When I am baptized…” Now we are just working to put a date to when… After his lesson, we stopped by to visit some people. We were able to set up a lesson with our friend Brittany! We also got a referral, so we very excitedly texted them, they then called us 5 minutes later…to cuss us out and call us a scam. They did not seem like they wanted to meet with us. 🤷
After that we had a call with the SMLs and DFTCs to discuss the mission page. It is getting so many interactions (unfortunately the large increase broke PMG so people are unable to respond to them right now). To keep the growth going though we are now striving for daily stories. After the call, we had a lesson with our friend Joe. He is awesome and really wants to learn. After his lesson, we had an interesting lesson with some of our new members. Unfortunately they are not currently in a place where they are ready or willing to progress spiritually. After their lesson we had a lesson with our friend Chrysler. He is going through a really hard time, but is looking for strength. After his lesson we had dinner with the Cochran family. I love them so much, but I am definitely starting to run out of object lesson spiritual thoughts. After that we went street contacting and did some social media work. Our lesson count for the week Tuesday night was 7.
On Wednesday, we decided to go door knocking in the morning. We ended up having a lesson with our new friends Frank and Vickie at the first house that we knocked on. God truly does provide. After that we biked to the older Cochran's house for lunch. I love them so much! After lunch we went to service at the food pantry. I have so much fun at the food pantry. After that, we went door knocking with little to no success followed by meeting a member at the church for a lesson. Unfortunately our friend did not end up showing up. After that we had a lesson with the Simpsons. They are all so sweet! It was a really depressing lesson though because they kept talking about death. After their lesson, we ate dinner, did some social media work, and finished the night with a very serious District Leader call. The lesson count for the week was 10 on Wednesday night.
On Thursday we had a Zone Comp Study on the importance of using social media. We then also started our zone challenge. We are fighting a series of bosses while being paired with a companionship to become the best missionaries we can be. The first boss was the Testifying Contacts Monster. His weakness was social media (worth 2 points each) and to kill him you had to get 250 points by Sunday night. After the comp study we had a social media training call where they committed us to doing social media work daily. After the training, we contacted people (while eating lunch), volunteered at the thrift store, and weekly planned. After weekly planning, we had a lesson with our friend Karl, followed by a lesson with Sister Campbell (an older lady who is inactive due to health challenges), followed by a lesson with Chasidy (someone who met with missionaries in the past). After that, we visited some people, ate dinner, and had a phone call lesson with our friend Rico. Following his lesson we did social media, reported, and planned a training for Deep South's district Council all at the same time. We then finished the night with a call with the Lebanon sisters. They are so sweet and never fail to bring a smile to my face! Our lesson count as of Thursday night was 14.
On Friday, we started our morning off with a lesson with our friend Joe. It was awesome. We had one of our members (Sister Fulkerson) join us and she invited them to the Branch party and church. After Joe's lesson we went straight to Deep South's district council. We were going to drink Sulphur water, but there were a lot of people there and we did not think it would be a good first impression of the church to have us throwing up… After their district council we were supposed to have a lesson with our friend Brittany, followed by a lesson with our new member Murphy, but they both ended up canceling. Instead we ended up going street contacting and having a lesson with a man named Mark. After Mark's lesson, we had a lesson with a man named Geo. Funny how two lessons canceling turned into two lessons with different people. We were then supposed to have a lesson with Courtney, but she too canceled, so we taught her neighbor Jasmine instead. After teaching Jasmine, we had a lesson with the Simpsons. Hans (one of our members) was able to join us and we had a really good lesson about prophets. After their lesson we visited someone named Brooke and then had a really short dinner break. After dinner we reported and finally had a personal study. Lesson count at the end of Friday was 19.
On Saturday, the chaos continued. We had district council at 9:30 in the morning followed by our branch pioneer day party. Our friends Chrysler, Joe, and Jeletta all came to the party. Right after that we drove to the temple because one of Sister Sharp's friends was getting endowed and we got permission from president to go. After the temple, we had a lesson with our friends Frank and Vickie, followed by a lesson with our friend Chrysler (the Hubbards joined us for that), followed by street contacting and a lesson with our new friend Judy, followed by social media work, followed by a phone call lesson with Kristen, followed by a phone call lesson with Stephen, followed by a phone call lesson with Rico. After our six lessons, we had a call with the Brandenburg sisters. They are super cute. After their call we ate dinner (at 9pm), reported, and ended up having a 45 minute phone call lesson with our friend David. Our lesson count Saturday night was 26.
On Sunday, we started the morning by biking to Branch Council. I don't know if I have ever been in a branch council that went into deeper topics. Unfortunately, we still do not have a Branch mission plan because their list for ideas has not made it past the idea stage (they were going to decide during Branch Council but ran out of time). After Branch council we had a short lesson with our new member Murphy before church. At church we had 3 new members and 3 friends come! Our friend Joe called 10 minutes before church and said he was walking to church (he lives 7 miles away). One of our members went to pick him up and was touched by him walking down the road with his book of Mormon because he wanted to be at church so badly. After church we had a lesson with our friend Stephen. After his lesson we biked to a few people and then went back to the apartment. We actually got a lunch break and personal study on Sunday! After that we went street contacting and grinded testifying contacts. We then did social media work, had a lesson with Paisley (Jasmine's sister) and had Branch Coordination. After Branch coordination we ate dinner, had a phone call lesson with our friend Rico, and finished the night with a district leader call. Through God's help we had 31 lessons and saw so many miracles!
Thankfully everyone in our zone was able to kill the Testifying Contacts Monster and advance to level Two (coming this week). We saw so many miracles this week as we worked hard in faith. We found 6 new friends, had 6 people at church, and truly saw God's hand in all the details!
